The 5 Best Ways for Writers to Procrastinate

I’ve had a lot of serious "market your book" posts over the last couple weeks, so this week Got Writers Block? or just need to take a break?

@Jessepet has a "book in a week" challenge coming up next week  where she’ll write over 100 pages in a single week.  No doubt! in addition to being beautiful and awesome, she’s hardcore and focused when she’s writing.

I’m not so lucky – spending much of my day saying "Hey, look! A pony!" -  If you’re reading this article,  I take no responsibility any lack of productivity.  This post alone took me an extra 4 days due to the content of the sites below Smile  When you’re at your computer during “writing time” these are the 5 best ways for writers to procrastinate:

icanhascheeseburger Icanhascheeseburger.  It has something for everyone…whether it’s cute kittens, Internet memes, or ugly tattoos – this site has it!  Some of my favorites: Set Phasers to LOL | Failbook (Facebook Fails) | Sweet Irony
i-am-bored

I-Am-Bored.com. The site for when you have a few minutes and are looking for something…and are not sure what.  It’s complete randomness, but where else can you find a picture of the most awesomeest battle ever, 5 Forgotten facts about Margaret Thatcher, or a video of Ikea declaring war on Garden Gnomes

funnyordie Funny or Die. Two words: Drunk History.  Yes, it pretty much sums up every conversation I had in college…except it’s acted out by famous stars like Will Ferrell, Don Cheadle, Crispin Glover, Jack Black.  Honestly, there’s so much more.  When you need a smile on your face, they have hilarious Podcasts, web series, videos,  articles, and more Smile
PostSecret

PostSecret: Jesse’s favorite.  When some people have a secret, they put it on a post card and send it to the site.  Sometimes they are funny, sometimes sad, but generally make you think.

cracked

Cracked: My favorite. I like funny and educational.  For example: 5 Scientific Reasons a Zombie Apocalypse Could Actually Happen, The
12 Most Insane Things You Can Buy on the Internet
, and Why Pixar Movies are all Secretly About the Apocalypse.

That’s right, Facebook and Twitter didn’t make the list…because from now on, that officially counts as a “marketing activity”!

What about you?  Any other amazing ways to procrastinate? What’s your go-to when you really should be writing?
